The car that slammed into the family's car in Queensland's Northern Territory is likely to have blacked out during the crash.

The young girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The parents, from Lismore, Queensland, said on Tuesday morning they were now looking for any relatives at the crash scene.

A spokesman for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said if parents of children under 18 cannot find insurance, the car's driver should seek help from a qualified mental health or mental health professional.

An Australian Family Health Survey found 13.3 per cent of people 15 years or older said their parents lacked access to any sort of insurance, while 18 per cent said their parents had no insurance and 15.2 per cent said none.

In addition, 22.1 per cent of parents admitted that their child had experienced symptoms that "tended to be severe".

Ms Smith said the child had been admitted to a regional psychiatric hospital.

The woman has not given up hope of finding a specialist care professional.

She has asked for a $75,000 increase in assistance to cover expenses, including her legal costs.

"We just need more funding to come in," Ms Smith said.

Just moments after the robbery, the victim's boyfriend told investigators that a black man and several men then pulled over to the side of the street, and asked the victim for money. The victim then began pushing one of the suspects out of the car while yelling "Get off of him," the victim told deputies.

The suspect then told the victim, "You are the one that I wanted, don't give me what I want," according to police. The suspect then started telling the victim about the robbery that happened two months earlier. When the victim attempted to get out of the car, the suspect began reaching through the window, pushing him onto the curb and pushing the man up into the air, officials said.

The suspect then threw the victim onto the sidewalk, and the victims were unable to help until police arrived, according to deputies.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where his injuries were reported to be serious but stable, the report said.

The victim's friend, 19-year-old James Williams, told police that he also witnessed one of the suspects "striking" the victim while he was lying on the ground, according to the report. When questioned about the robbery, Williams admitted to being the one who punched the victim but denied pulling the victim over in the first place.

The report said the suspect was later arrested after witnesses gave investigators information about the incident.
